California bander mature castration tool

 This is simplest, quickest and easiest to use delayed castrator on the market. Animals can be banded in seconds. Designed in the US, the beauty of the California Bander is that you don’t have to try and feed the testicles through a loop like other methods. With the California Bander you work above the testicles, holding the scrotum and looping the band around. Simple, quick, easy and less expensive than other methods. 

To use, hold the tool in the left hand. Fit a band in the slot on the top of the tool, and hold the loose end of the band in between your fingers. Put your left hand up the left hand side of the scrotum, reach around behind the scrotum with your right hand, grab the loose end of the band, pull it around the top of the scrotum above the testicles and pull the band back into the clip at the tool end of the band. Remove the tool – no need to cut the loose end of the band off. Full instructions come with the tool.

Many farmers are delaying castration to take advantage of the higher growth rates of entire animals. According to the supplier, research shows that if you leave bull calves intact they will typically grow 15 % faster and will also convert feed 20 % more efficiently than steer calves. Banding is safer and less stressful than surgical castration especially when used on more mature animals.
