FuturaPad 2 pack - standard size (available in two sizes, std and XL)

Pack of two (one left, one right) Futura hoof blocks.

The fastest and easiest hoof block to use!

No mixing of glue - sets in seconds, even in cold weather.  Complete kit with two blocks, glue and  protective gloves.  No mixing, no mess.  Less stress on the operator and animals as the process is over in seconds.

Lameness often occurs where an animal has a problem with one claw – a hole, lesion, lodged stone etc – and a proven method of aiding recovery is to take the weight off that claw by gluing a block or boot on the healthy claw. In this way the sore claw is slightly elevated and takes less weight, allowing it to recover.

Hoof blocks or boots are generally not removed, but allowed to slough off naturally in time. Depending on the type of product used and the conditions the boot or block may stay on several weeks.

Each block set is individually packed in a sealed bag, so there is no large glue tube to go off or get sticky and the product can be carried over to the next season (see picture).

The Futura block is a wooden block fitted with a thin foam rubber pad.  To fit the block, soak this pad with the supplied glue and apply to the hoof.  The glue sets in 10 - 15 seconds.

The unique feature of the Futura block is the foam rubber pad - when soaked with glue and applied to the hoof, this pad takes up any uneveness from hoof trimming and ensures a strong bond between the hoof and the block.

In other hoof block types a much thicker epoxy type glue has to be used to take up the uneveness and ensure the block stays on the hoof.  This glue takes several minutes to set, compared to seconds for the Futura.

Without the rubber pad, a hoof block glued with the fast polymer glue wil only stick to the high spots on the hoof and often does not last.

The standard block is 110mm long and the XL block 130mm long. If in doubt, use the 110mm block as it is better to have the block fit within the hoof size than overlap the edges - although the blocks can be cut down if required.

Blocks are grooved to ensure the cow has grip and are manufactured from kiln dried hardwood. They are very durable and will normally last several weeks (depending on conditions).
Note the glue pad is at the front of the block. Research has shown that hoof blocks adhere better at the front of the hoof, as the heel of the hoof is more flexible and therefore glue does not stay adhered to it. Blocks work well glued to around the first 2/3 of the hoof.

Demotec are the world leader in bovine hoof care products, with FuturaPad, EasyBloc and EasyBond products. Unlike many other companies that sell hoof boots, they specialise in hoof care and have numerous innovations to their credit.

Lameness in dairy cattle costs farmers millions of dollars each year. Even slight lameness reduces milk yields. Research in Europe showed for every dollar spent on treating lameness there was a return of ten dollars. Milk yield drops almost immediately lameness occurs - but climbs back up as soon as the hoof is treated.

The Futura has won numerous awards in Europe.
